205PD Analyze

• Complete the 205PD Analyze (MS Word) assessment by answering one (1) of the following two (2) questions:
  1. How are the composition and structure of the Earth's layers different as you go deeper into Earth?
  2. How does the transfer of heat from the Earth’s core to space contribute to the “state” and behavior of each of Earth’s layers?

205PD Evaluate

• (Honors) Complete the "205PD Evaluate (H) CER - Earths Layers and Density" which will be graded using the CER Rubric
• Complete the "Layers of the Earth and Density CER" (MS Word) which will be graded using the CER Rubric

205PD Create

• Complete one (1) of the following Create options (in lieu of doing the Analyze and Evaluate):

1. Build or develop a model of the Earth's interior that illustrates the composition, state of matter, density, and the relationships between layers.  The model and its labels, descriptions, or presentation must include references to the evidence scientists have found to indicate these layers exist as modeled.

2. Design and demonstrate a three-dimensional model of the Earth's interior focused on at least one of the following mechanisms: heat transfer, convection, and/or plate tectonics.  Presentation of the model must include references to relationships between layers and how the demonstration represents the realities of the Earth's layers based on known scientific evidence.

• Students are encouraged to propose ideas to the instructor prior to commencing work to receive guidance and recommendations.
